8 colours, 8 moods for your kitchen in Yorkshire

When it comes to kitchen makeovers people mostly pay attention to things like counter-tops, cabinets and sinks and forget all about colour.

Colour is a great way to transform your kitchen - chosen carefully it can bring out the elegance of your kitchen design, but chosen poorly it will render any makeover ineffective.

As you plan your kitchen remodel think about including the following colours - they can have a powerful effect.
  1. Red
Red comes in many different shades which makes it a perfect colour for those who are not creative enough. It is a colour that is associated with courage and can be used to bring out special installations in your home. You don't have to paint all the walls red, but creatively used it looks great. You can, for example, use it to make patterns on otherwise white walls, or you can have your centerpiece, the counter-top, in red.

  2. Pink
Pink is a colour that is associated with little girls but inventive interior designers have found ways to use it in kitchens. It makes for a feeling of warmth and cosiness. You can have some installations in a good shade of pink, or you can use it for designs on exposed walls. You can also throw in pink rugs and other decorative items.
  3. Orange
Orange is a common colour in kitchens and people choose it because it conveys confidence. If you have dull walls you can make them lively using an orange design, or you can even install tiles that are a good shade of orange.
  4. Yellow
Yellow is a nice, warm colour that will liven up a kitchen while at the same time making it feel cosy.
  5. Green Do you love nature? What better way to celebrate it by choosing a shade of green to decorate your kitchen? There are many ways that you can get creative with this colour.
  6. Aqua
This is a great colour not just for kitchens but also for bathrooms and bedrooms.
  7. Blue
Blue is a great way to spruce up any kitchen, and it creates a feeling of warmth and comfort.
  8. Lavender
If you want to show courage and confidence with your choices have a kitchen that has lots of lavender in it.
