Some ideas for U-shaped kitchens

Cooker at the centre

In this layout, you have your cooker at the centre on the far end of the wall and then on the left and the right you create a line of cabinets, the outer one which also doubles as a kitchen countertop. You will have enough space to move around, prepare your food and after food is done you can eat it off the kitchen counter.

Get rid of wall units

Although it may be hard to imagine a kitchen without wall units this design will give your kitchen a sense of space. In their place install glass shelving where you can put away food jars, electronics and so on. The design looks very much like the one discussed above only it is much roomier.

Divide and conquer

If you have a large room that you want to use as a kitchen, dining area and living quarters this design is perfect. At the far end you will have a sink area, the cooker will be on the adjoining wall and then you will install a countertop that also serves as a dining area.

Blend in kitchens

These are also good for large rooms, but what makes them great is that they are discreet - the U-shape makes them blend in with the rest of the room in such a way that no one can tell they are there until they take a closer look. They are usually tucked away in a corner.

Traditional U-shaped kitchen

This is very much like a normal kitchen only instead of having the kitchen in an open plan everything is installed to form a U pattern. You can add flair to it by choosing fittings in dark colours.
